Anniversary of my incident/Saving my neighbor

I knew that there was a reason I took school off tonight. It must have been divine intervention or something. Today marks four years since my incident and I saved my neighbor from being beaten to death.

I had to dial 911 because of a domestic disturbance at my next door neighbor's apartment. There was so much banging and what sounded like someone being thrown up against walls. When the police arrived, they couldn't get in the premises because our front door is key entry. The dispatcher called me and as I was gimping down the five flights of stairs, I heard my neighbor screaming, "get off me". That made me move faster. So, I was relaying that to the dispatcher as I was was running/gimping down the stairs. I let the officers in and they had to break down the door because the male attacking her wouldn't let them in. He was still on top of her when they busted open the door and they arrested him. Apparently, there was more than one assailant. She knew them both and I kept thinking, how is it that you let people of that nature into our complex? Apparently one assailant had been choking her and my call was in the nick of time. I am really shooken up by this because it brings back memories that I would rather not think of. I am praying that she will recover from this. She is physically ok from what I know but mentally, I am sure it will take time.
One of the officer's asked me to fill out a statement. As I was filling it out, my mind flashed back to that horrible day. I just want to recover myself. I know there is a reason why I was home at the right time. Say some prayers for my neighbor and for me so that I can sleep tonight. But, mostly for her!

Oh my. I'm glad you were there. I thought the complex was required to have a master entry thingie? Our old complex was key entry only, but there was a special box at the gate that fire/police could use to gain entrance. Maybe that's only a California law.
